Cardullo signed with the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League for the 2013 season. On January 6, 2016, he signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies organization. He would go on to become the first alumni of the Rockland Boulders in the Can-Am Association to make the major leagues.
Stephen was called up to the major leagues for the first time on August 26, 2016. He hit his first Major League home run against Casey Fien in the first game of a doubleheader against the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 31, 2016, his 29th birthday, and his first grand slam in the second game against Bud Norris.
