Nicholas Nastrini (born February 18, 2000 in San Jose, CA) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox.  As per Geneanet.org, the Nastrini family name hails from Northern Italy.

Nastrini attended Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, California, where he played on their baseball team. He went undrafted in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft and enrolled at UCLA to play college baseball. As a freshman at UCLA in 2019, Nick made four starts and posted a 1.37 ERA over 19 2⁄3 innings, missing a majority of the season due to thoracic outlet syndrome. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft, and signed.

He made his professional debut with the Arizona Complex League Dodgers and was promoted to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes after one start. Over seven starts between the two clubs, he posted a 1.93 ERA with 32 strikeouts and seven walks in 14 innings. He opened the 2022 season with the Great Lakes Loons and was promoted to the Tulsa Drillers on August 15.  In 2023 with Tulsa, he made 17 starts and had a 5–3 record and 4.03 ERA.

On July 28, 2023, Nastrini, Trayce Thompson, and Jordan Leasure were traded to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly. He was assigned to the Birmingham Barons before being promoted to the Charlotte Knights in late August. Over 25 starts between Tulsa, Birmingham, and Charlotte, Nastrini went 9-5 with a 4.08 ERA and 139 strikeouts over 114+2⁄3 innings. He was assigned to Charlotte to open the 2024 season.

Nick made his MLB debut on April 15, 2024 for the Chicago White Sox vs. the Kansas City Royals, pitching effectively allowing 2 runs in 5 innings allowing only 3 hits. Unfortunately, he got the loss as the White Sox became the first team since the 1907 Brooklyn Superbas to be shut out 6 times in their first 16 games.

Interestingly, Nick’s sister Jenna is engaged to Michael Toglia, the right fielder for the Colorado Rockies, and shortly after Nick picked up his first career strikeout, acing Bobby Witt Jr. on an 85.6 mph changeup in the first inning, the Guaranteed Rate Field scoreboard showed news of Toglia’s fourth home run taking place in Philadelphia.
